The Animal Humane Society is looking to find loving homes for dogs rescued from squalid conditions in Pine County.
The hound mixes were taken in about three weeks ago after the previous owner could no longer care for them. About eight of the more than 50 dogs are now at the Golden Valley facility.
The dogs are mostly of younger age and are generally healthy. Animal Humane Society staff has been working hard to socialize the dogs and get them ready for adoption.
"The biggest thing really is their behavior," said Dr. Graham Brayshaw, Animal Humane Society's director of animal services. "They were never socialized. They did not have that one-on-one time with a good family from the time they were just a few months old."
Most of the dogs have since made it to the adoption floor at the Animal Humane Society's five shelters. Some of the dogs have already been placed with families.
